The annual international Love Your Shorts Film Festival is one of our favorite events in Sanford every year! We are excited to have been able to attend this short film festival since it beginning in 2011, and even more to have seen it grow every year! at the Love Your Shorts Film Festival short films are divided by genres or themes and presented in blocks (tickets are $8 per person per block, click here to view the complete festival schedule). After each block (usually around 90 minutes long) the audience votes for their favorite film and a winner is selected.

LYS-panelThe event starts on Thursday, February 9th with a few FREE education workshops hosted at the Greater Sanford Regional Chamber of Commerce including a free screening of UCF student films at the Wayne Densch Performing Arts Center. Other free events include a workshop for middle and high school students and a Filmmakers’ Panel on Saturday.

Friday, February 10 at 7pm is official opening night followed by Opening Night Party. Throughout Saturday and Sunday guests can attend film blocks from genres like Documentary, Animation, Comedy, Sci-Fi/Horror or Drama.

One of our favorite blocks is Saturday’s “E is for Everyone”, a selection of child friendly short films for only $2 per person!

“Best of Fest” concludes the film festival on Sunday evening. During this film block the audience gets to watch the Winners from each block and the Best of the Festival award will be given as decided by a panel of judges.
