Papier Mache Sculpting/Painting

Ages 6 and up 10:00 AM-11:30 AM

Price $95 (price includes all materials)

Papier-mâché sculpting, drawing, painting and collage, are just a few of the techniques we will be using in this art camp. Our theme for this class will be “Sea and nature”. Students will choose a project such as fish, flowers, butterflies and birds. They will then plan and construct a large sculpture out of paper mache. All projects will be finished by painting beautiful color and design onto it. Any of these creations are sure to be whimsical and fun!

 

The ABC’s of ART – Drawing and Painting

Ages 10 and up   12:00 PM – 1:30 PM

$95 all materials will be provided.

In this class students will explore a variety of techniques and mediums. We will work with pencil, acrylic, pastels and watercolor on projects that will build fundamental skills and develop creativity, while having fun!  We will teach them which material best suits the project, so they can attain the best results. Recommended for students with a serious interest in art.

 

Batik and tiedye

Ages 6 & up 2:00 PM – 3:30 PM

Price $95 plus $5 materials fee

Color your world! Kids really love working with color – It stimulates their minds and provides a constructive creative outlet. We will supply everything the student needs to make three dazzling, colorfast tie-dye projects. We use the same dyes that the pros use paying particular attention to the color wheel. Children will learn how to make cool patterns such as bulls-eyes, stripes, hearts…even spirals. Batik techniques will also be implemented into some of these projects. Students will take pride in having created their designs themselves every time they wear it!  Don’t forget to wear your old art-safe clothes for this class!

June 3 – June 7: History Detective Camp (9am-3pm)

Campers will be taught how historians develop specific skills to help solve mysteries in history. This includes days that focus on studying Native American history, different aspects of art history and identifying clues in history. They will also learn about some of the architecture in Sanford and historians use different kinds of artifacts.

June 10 – June 14: Pioneer Camp (9am-3pm)

Pioneer camp is designed to teach children about early life in Florida. There are activities that will teach what pioneers ate, how they traveled, and much more! Students will even get to create pioneer crafts and learn games that children in the pioneer days would’ve played. They will make useful items such as homemade candles and woven palmetto baskets that they can bring home as part of their pioneer experience.

June 17 – June 21: Theater Camp (9am-3pm)

Experience life in theater! Students will first become familiar with basic theater concepts such as playwriting, stage direction and terminology. After that students will get to write their own stories for plays, develop characters and even participate in acting improvisation games that incorporate special effects and costumes. By the end of the week the children will be certifiable scene masters and have useful skills for writing and storytelling!

June 24 – June 28: Thrill Seeker Camp (9am-3pm)

Thrill Seeker Camp will prove to be very exciting! Students will learn about thrilling topics such as pirate life in Florida, rock and roll history, spy skills, and much more! By the end of this week children will have experienced exciting games that allow them to live as pirates, rock stars, archeologists and even Florida cracker life!

Friday, July 17: Seed Paper Make your own paper from scraps and put seeds into the mix. Then plant the paper in your yard to attract wildlife.

Advanced Intensive (Ages 12+) $150

This is a day camp for boys and girls where we will provide a fun, safe, loving atmosphere for your child this summer. It is run by Chandra Story, a Florida State Certified Teacher with 14 years of teaching experience. Our days will be structured with all sorts of activities that every child will be able to participate in. There will be arts and crafts, lots of sports opportunities, swimming, music, drama, games, reflective time, movies, Bible lessons, kids in the kitchen,  field trips, and more.

Organized activities occurring from 9 AM to 4 PM. Each camper is responsible for bringing their lunch each day as we do not provide any lunch. Activities are set aside for each age group and not all field trips are included in the weekly fee. Seminole County PAL Camps is a proactive initiative to offer low cost, safe and supervised activities to youths during Seminole County Public Schools Spring and Summer breaks. We have limited spots available for our 2015 Summer Camp, so register early.
