It’s always great to see businesses choosing Sanford as their location. The Rivera Family Chiropractic Center recently opened the doors to its newest location at right next to the historic district of Sanford.

I recently visited the center to learn a bit more about how chiropractic care could help my health and general well-being. Since I often work long hours at the computer I have had a stiff neck several times over the last few years. Now I have to say, I truly did not know anything about what exactly a chiropractic does. All I had heard in the past was that chiropractics treat you after car accidents to help with the recovery. After my visit I know: they do so much more!

From the first moment I stepped through the doors of the beautifully remodeled center I felt at ease. The atmosphere is calm, almost soothing and the staff was very professional and nice and welcomed me with a big smile. The facility clearly offers state of the art equipment and is super clean without seeming sterile or cold. Of course, the fact that Dr. Rivera explained everything to me in such an easy to understand yet professional manner calmed me down even more. After all, I had never been to a chiropractic before and didn’t know what to expect. I am the type of person that needs to have the facts explained to her in a logical way (without any jargon) before I trust someone – and I can say, Dr. Rivera accomplished that.

Rivera Family Chiropractic Center in Sanford offers physical therapy and chiropractic care. As pain relief specialists they focus on auto accidents, family wellness, children, neck and back pain, lower back pain during pregnancy, headaches and sciatica. Rivera Family Chiropractic Center even has the necessary equipment to perform on-site x-rays.

What I thought was really interesting is the fact that chiropractic care is actually something that can be done in order to prevent pain and injuries in the first place. In other words: if you see your chiropractic on a regular basis you can actually prevent lower back pain, stiffness in neck and even migraines!

Much like service on your car, which you obviously do on a regular basis, chiropractic care can be compared to “body maintenance”. I never gave this any thought but after Dr. Rivera pointed it out, it made so much sense: my occasional migraines are related to my issues with neck stiffness. The pressure that is created by the stiff, overworked muscles in my neck may very well be the cause for the migraines. Likewise, lots of other ailments caused by muscle spasms and joint problems can be cured or, even better, prevented by chiropractic care.

Chiropractics also promote general well-being by basically “fixing” and restoring our normal range of motion that has been altered over the years through daily bad habits (like the wrong posture). We often forget how important it is to work on those things early on. Just because we are still fit doesn’t mean we should ignore what our body will need in the future. After all, many of us already try to follow a healthy lifestyle by exercising and healthy dieting, why not go all the way to ensure complete wellness of the body? Relaxing our muscles and relieving pressure from our joints and bones to increase mobility and simply feel well inside and out – I’m up for it đŸ™‚ At the Rivera Family Chiropractic Center you can get lots of tips about how to maintain a healthy lifestyle for years to come.

Some of the therapies offered at the Rivera Family Chiropractic Center include:

  • Trigger Point Therapy: Reduces chronic muscle spasms, avoids scar tissue formation, improves muscle tone, promotes better circulation, and increases range of motion.
  • Interferential Electro-Therapy: Reduces pain, decreases local swelling, promotes muscle tone, restores normal movement, releases the body’s natural pain killers, accelerates the healing process.
  • Intersegmental Traction: Improves circulation of spinal fluids and increases mobility.
