Movie Classics Continue at WDPAC – Win Tickets to Singing in the Rain

sam_1752We had a scary good time screening Frankenstein (1931) at the Wayne Densch Performing Arts Center in October! In case you haven’t heard, the City has teamed up with the theater to bring Movie Classics on Magnolia, a series of classic films, to Downtown Sanford, and we love it! So far, we’ve seen King Kong, Casablanca, and most recently, to get us in the mood for Halloween, the classic thriller, Frankenstein, starring Boris Karloff as the monster.

Scroll down to find out how you can win tickets to the next Movie Classics Event featuring “Singing in the Rain” on Thursday, December 17th!

I was thrilled to see lots of new faces among the familiar ones queued up in a line out the door of the theater, and even happier to see the ushers dressed in spooky costumes inside the dimly lit, cobweb-decked lobby.

Jeremy and I grabbed popcorn and adult beverages (of course), then headed up to “our spot” in the mezzanine, and settled in for some fun!

sam_1764We saw a few original Betty Boop shorts before the feature and really loved watching the vintage horror movie spoof, which used original footage from Nosferatu and Frankenstein to poke fun at the genre. Frankenstein itself was a really interesting look into early horror films, and when the lights went up, kept us talking for a long time about the ideology of the film and the intentions of the filmmakers based on the choices they made for adaptation. (I know, I know, we’re total nerds.)

singing in the rainWe absolutely can’t wait for the next film in December, “Singin’ in the Rain”. And here is your chance to win 2 Tickets to the movie for Thursday, December 17th at 7:26pm. We are giving away 3 sets of 2 tickets, so there will be 3 winners!

Not familiar with the film? Here’s what the Wayne Densch has to say about this classic:

A silent film production company and cast make a difficult transition to the “talkies” and the leading lady has a voice best for silent movies. Frequently regarded as one of the best musicals ever made, join us for a showing of the original 1952 classic movie on the big screen at the Wayne Densch Performing Arts Center on December 17 at 7:26 P.M.

Simply comment below and let us know that you would like to win the tickets and you will be entered into a drawing. This contest is now closed. Winners will be notified shortly.
